SCL Manager is a comprehensive engineering tool that allows user to manage the SCL engineering process with enhanced workspace, database with various IED's and its features, various SLD templates, and wizards for engineering purposes.

SCL Manager as well as ICD manager will install using the same installation file. User can download the latest database from the Kalkitech website.

You need to get the primary key of the machine by clicking on the obtain license button on the 'Application control panel' and fill the required information. On submitting you can save the primary key in your machine and send that file to support@kalkitech.com Kalkitech support team will send you the actual license for your machine which you can install using install license option in application control panel.

You can describe a substation specification description by adding the substation and its internal elements in the sld draw area/SCL tree or by importing the template from the SLD library. Then you can export the SSD file by selecting the export option of the substation

Create an SCL project and add an IED using the IED wizard. For creating ICD file for a new IED, you can opt for 'Create new' option of the IED Wizard; select the functions supported by the IED. There you have your IED. You can Export the ICD/CID file by right clicking the IED in Project explorer or from SCL tree.

SCL Manager will validate for all files while loading/importing in accordance with the SCL file schema version 1.4

SCL, SLD and IED folders are the default folders which will come with a new SCL project. SCLfolder contains the SCL file of the project, SLD folder contains all the single line diagrams, IED folder contains all the IED and related files on default

The number of nodes in a channel is physical layer depended. In case of Serial RS485 multidropped energy meters, the maximum number of nodes can be only 31. For TCP channels it can have more no of nodes provided it should not cross the max point supported by a gateway.

The diagnostic point reports an event each time a node comes online or offline. This point can be mapped to the slave protocols for checking the communication status of the master protocol.

The status change event is used to get a point reported as an event when its quality changes.

The possible conversions can be mapped from Easyconnect. The details of a particular data type in a protocol can be checked in the protocol user manual.

The Appendix K in SYNC user manual viz 'Flag conversion in SYNC' details the quality mapping.

Along with the cases listed for debugging as mentioned in the Test Configuration query above, the following cases may cause failure of "Download Objectlsit". Error in Objectlist returned by server, any communication failure before receiving complete objectlist, error while reading individual object attribute of an object. In the second case please contact support@kalkitech.com with the logs in DLMS Explorer for further analysis of your issue

You should use ICDManager to model your IED. The GCB/RCB can be added in the ICD  file to configure GOOSE and reports.

SYNC/KSGL products have conformance certifications from KEMA/CPRI

We have disabled the diagnostics in IEC61850 Server, since it is huge and may affect the performance of the gateway. But it will show logs of control command received and its execution status. You can use network packet analysers like wireshark to analyse the communication. Wireshark contains a packet filter for mms which is the underlying protocol used by IEC61850

Please note that 61850 protocol displays UTC time. If you have considered this and still there is a difference, Please check the timestamp sent from your device. For more information please send a mail to support@kalkitech.com with the channel logs.

Firstly check if you are able to ping the gateway from SCADA. If yes try to connect to the gateway using a third party IEC61850 browsers. If the above option fails, check for any IP conflicts in the network with that of the gateway. You can also contact support@kalkitech.com with the icd file to check whether the IEC61850 Server in SYNC is properly getting initialised.

ICD file of the server device should be used in IEC61850 Client channel during configuration

One possible reason could be that you have enabled the report over the rcb name(eg:- rcb1) and not on its instance name(eg:- rcb101). It could also be because of an incorrect icd file used in the Client channel.

Please check whether your Antivirus/Firewall settings is blocking the communication between EasyConnect and firmware. Please try after disabling the same.

The KSGL/SYNC  gateway it comes shipped with firmware. A CD will be shipped along with the gateway which will contain the EasyConnect Setup.

For setting the jumper, the gateway enclosure can be removed. For keeping the warranty, get the confirmation from the Kalkitech support for the specific gateway unit. i.e., the customer can email the gateway serial no and get the confirmation from support@kalkitech.com

Please check whether you have enabled event poll. If yes please run traffic monitor for courier channel and check whether the event generated is shown in the log when it is induced. If shown confirm whether the ROW COLUMN of the event reported from the relay is same as the one you are expecting the event and configured in the profile.

As of now our Courier Master is tested with P series relays and we have successfully commissioned many project which involves P122,P342,P343,P442,P443,P922 etc. For K-Series relays all the functionalities are not available. This 40001 address will be a holding register with an offset 40000. In order to configure this in EasyConnect  you can add a holding register with start address 1. Instead of that if you are configuring 40001 without the offset in EasyConnect it will be treated as an actual address and may not get proper results.

As Class 1/2/3 requests are made to update any of Class 1/2/3 events in the outstation. Only change events will be reported in Class 1/2/3 response. In case of no change events, "No Data" response would be sent. While, in Class 0 poll, all the Static data will be updated. It's similar to integrity poll in IEC60870-5-101.

"Unsol Command Type at Restart IIN" parameter in DNP Master Node should be enabled to enable Unsol reporting of events. Note: To enable unsol in relay.

The configuration options are there in DNP Slave node section,  "Unsolicited Response Config".

The Default variations set in Node is taken in priority over the variations set in profile. If you want a point to get reported in the variation set in profile, the default variation for the corresponding Object in Node should be made to '0'.

How can we finally infer that VPN configuration is correct, working and ready for communication?

EasyConnect supports configuration of multiple device in a project from V4.0.0 differing from configuration of a single device in earlier versions. The atomic part to be downloaded to a gateway is the configuration file(.xml). The project file(.ecc) contains configuration of multiple devices from which EasyConnect allows downloading the configuration of the corresponding device. You can import a device configuration to the project by right clicking on the "device" node in the project tree and selecting "Import device config file". You can also export the configuration of an individual device by right clicking on the "Protocol Configuration" node under the corresponding device and selecting "Export device config file".

This a very common message that pop up when Windows firewall/Antivirus blocks this Easyconnect functionality. Please disable both and try again, also there may be some messages like "No support for timezone","EasyConnect is busy, Try after sometime" while trying for diagnostics. These are also due to the above reason.

Anitvirus is blocking the port (2500) which is the remote port for easyconnect for all other functionalites except SCAN. Please unblock the same and try again.

The basic cause of the above issue is that there is no integrity link between the hot and standby gateway. Check whether the physical interface link is correct and the IPs provided in the HSB Channel of main and standby gateways are the corresponding IP of the remote gateway interface to which the IL is connected. The issue can also happen if there is a mismatch in the database of both the gateways. Please check if both the gateways have same configuration as explained in the configuration of HSB Channels above.

Yes, Logs can be taken from Easyconnect, Diagnostics-->Application Logs. This should be used only for debug purpose. While activating logs the exiting connection if any will be disconnected and the system will try to reconnect and the corresponding logs will be saved till it is stopped by the user. Please remeber that PPP will be stopped whenever the logs is stopped from the easyconnect. So for re-establishing the PPP connection the gateway has to  be restarted. 

You should change the dip switches available on SYNC 2000 S2R1 to change the serial ports to RS485.

No. The COM2 port does not have a DCD line and it can't be used for PPP. COM1 can be used from PPP.
